So it seems like it wouldn't be unreasonable to bargain for an extended warranty on a new 2017 e-Golf that costs roughly $1500 and extends the original factory warranty to 6 years/72K miles (which I believe is the standard warranty on most other new VW cars).

Looking at local dealerships, the 2019 e-golf SEL is going for $39k. I called a few dealers to verify. Then looking at several california dealerships I'm getting quotes for the exact same car at under $31k. If I applied the $7,500 tax credit, that's a new 2019 e-golf SEL for $23,500. That's awful close to a 'yep it's worth it' price for me.
