The Big Green Egg is a legend among backyard cooks. With the ability to hit temperatures over 600 degrees or hold them as low as 200 degrees, this unit is perfect for searing steaks and smoking briskets. The medium unit is the mid-sized Egg and the 15-inch diameter cooking surface is large enough to hold one 18-pound turkey. I just "upgraded" my 2009 Large Big Green Egg with a new spring band, Smokeware Cap and Gauge, High-Que Gold Standard gasket, and a perforated intake door. The new hinge on the spring band is similar to the X-Lge Big Green Egg. They have relocated the springs to the outside of the hinge. The only downside seems to be that the dome doesn't open
Start out mirroring the back hinge and inserting the two bolts through the top band and the rear hinge. Finger tighten the two locking nuts to the bolts. The next three holes will be skipped. Then the front hinge that holds the spring can be attached with two more bolts and locking nuts. Again, finger tighten these.
That kit includes all the parts you will need, including the bands, hinges, handle, spacers, and nuts/bolts. You'll need a 7/16 and 1/2 wrench or thin-wall sockets. Despite the look of the box, large pizza not included. tl;dr - Replacing the bands on your Big Green Egg. costs about $138, Big Green Egg vs Weber: Range. The Big Green Egg range is limited in comparison to what Weber has to offer. You can buy a Big Green Egg in one of three sizes, the Minimax is the small entry-level model but it still has a decent 33cm diameter cooking surface. The large Egg offers a family sized 46cm and the XL Egg has a whopping 61cm diameter
Design. The Big Green Egg has a shape as it is named. It has an egg-shaped compartment containing all the necessary objects for firing it up and retaining the heat. The Vision Grills have this design as well. The shape’s key purpose is to limit the airflow for the grills to produce the smoky flavor.
